Our house Friday 12 September 2008

It was a great day the guys came from Sydney manoo, jithu & amith in their blasting ford XR-6. Joseph was also there in our house. We had made kappa, moru curry & chicken curry for them.
The talks continued all through the night ...indeed it was a get together of us all manoo, jithu, amith, ashwin, riju & nithin after 2 yrs since we all left for different jobs to different parts of Australia after leaving Adelaide.

Jithu was telling that everybody started looking at them in Sydney once they got into the XR-6 and Manoo was telling that jithu finished his favorite dish within minutes once he was offered something to eat as a relief for his hunger (Jithu doesn’t agree to this though).
Then came the old stories in Adelaide – a time for nostalgic memories. Don’t know at what time we all went to bed that night.

Onam Lunch

This was a great day. It was the day after "Thiruvonam" and the weather was pleasant and sunny. We had planned the get together at Benson’s house and prepare the "Onam sadya".

The lunch was planned to be done within 1.00pm but we started late after the long night. After reaching Benson’s house we started individual tasks. Jithu made "rasam curry", Nithin "cabbage toran", Ashwin "pineapple kichaddi" & "beetroot curry", Riju "sambar", Benson "moru curry", Nebu "pappadam" & Manoo his famous "payasam".

Finished the sadya by 3.00 pm and kept seeing Asianet and a mallu film. Left for house then changed plans to go for a drive to Mount Ainslie.

Mount Ainslie

This was a good drive. After leaving through the mighty streets of Canberra in short time we came to the terrain full of native Australian bush and kangaroos hopping around us. The drive was through the Mt Ainslie drive and soon we reached the top of the mount. We could see the whole city from there. It resembled Mount Lofty in Adelaide, the usual place for us to hang around (Mount Ainslie has a majestic look of the capital city, mount lofty which on the other hand has a naturist look of the mighty Adelaide Hills).

Jithu was fare welled to the bushes with the words "Go Jithu Go…. At last you are free ….Go back to the bush".
But soon we joined him. The walk down the hill was so nice and fellow Aussie people helped us with taking a few snaps for us.

After returning to home Riju and Manoo started playing their usual X-Box game and ashwin & jithu went for Biriyaani pickup from Bollywood Masala. After a good dinner we all settled down for next day’s program which was another "Onam sadya" for us by Canberra Malayalee families.
